London Migration Film Festival is back!
We can’t wait to welcome you for our 9th edition, from 20-27 November 2024 at a number of venues across London - cinemas, universities, community spaces, cafes and more.
This year the festival includes a record number of partnerships, which make our programme diverse, eclectic, and a real stand out in London’s crowded cultural landscape.
Alongside film screenings, you can take your pick from workshops, storytelling events, cemetery tours, recipe writing workshops, live performances, drag shows and more.
Let’s talk about films.
As always, London Migration Film Festival includes fiction, short and documentary films focusing on the intersection of migration with a wide range of themes - from climate emergency to trans rights; from parenthood to friendships and solidarity, this year’s programme delves into emerging issues of our time, as well as into long lasting struggles - including the challenges faced by Palestinian refugees.
With the aim of portraying the diversity and humanity of migration, our film selection deliberately reflects the many forms in which migration takes place.
The festival’s programme includes light-hearted films, that remind us that there is happiness in movement, and we intentionally choose films focusing on diverse parts of the world and migratory routes, in order to challenge the expectation that most people move from the Global South to the Global North.
London Migration Film Festival includes both films by established artists and directors as well as films by lesser known filmmakers who use new perspectives to analyse migration and refugee issues. In order to raise the profile and provide a platform for migrant filmmakers, we include films that were directed, produced and starred in by migrants.
The fine print
We are a small, independent festival. The fact that so many of you have chosen to come to our events over the years is what made it possible for us not only to survive, but to thrive and experiment with new ideas.
Yet a key priority for us is to remain accessible. That’s why our ticket prices start from as little as £6. We have costs to cover and contributors to pay, but wherever possible, we try to keep tickets as cheap as possible.
This being said, if you are not able to buy a ticket, please drop us a line - we keep aside a number of free tickets for each event, and we will try our best to make sure you can attend the festival.
Not the first time around
